A ‘lil groovy background info:
Very in demand & rare double-header on the small Alley label from Jonesboro, Arkansas.
It’s the deepish, desperate, ‘feelin’ blue’, so very moody downtempo side which grabs us on this record.
Even though one’s ‘sadness’ could be caused by different matters than a loss of relationship like on the tune here, something that might not always be feelable upfront, singer Ike Noble gives an invitation to cry through his touching rendition, an intense human feeling of pure beauty not everyone allows to happen with him/herselves..
This tune could actually be seen as some kinda ‘therapy’, and how good it works without any chemical tablets one would have to swallow, it just helps to drop off all that mental load, no matter what it is or where it comes from.
And then, the so very good thing with this ‘Soul’ music shines through again: even if ‘It’s Bad’, there’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel, not just hope, we can be assured that it will all be good at the end, whenever this might be.
And ‘Oh Yes We Can’ only thank the man above for gifting us with this thing called SOUL, amen.
