Billy Sha-Rae – I’m Gone b/w Let’s Do It Again – Spectrum 7″

Heavy KILLER Northern Soul hitter, same as Eddie Parker, but much nicer in price. Plus a strong Funk tune on it’s flip, this 45 was produced by Motown’s legendary Funk Brothers boss Jack Ashford.

When some Northern Soul snobs who own an original 1960s Eddie Parker US copy, a record demanding a multiple four-figure Sterling amount to obtain in original format, might call this 45 here a ‘poor man’s Eddie Parker’ there might be some truth behind…

BUT it’s differently arranged, recorded with another great singer & backing track nevertheless it has the same kinda ‘PUSH’… There’s a chance this version might become a more effective Northern Soul dancefloor filler than the ‘rarer’ one, possibly due to the fact that the ‘millionaire’s’ version is nothing but overplayed on the UK scene, often heard 3 times per night and this over decades.

This one here has the ability to add some individualism to his deejay set and to move from ‘bargain’ status to ‘general in demander’ & through this then to reach a real ‘mad’ price.  So do better not sleep on this one!
