Digging in the crates has always been one of our greatest pleasures, and this time we went deep into our very own archives to uncover true gems and jewels from our 35-year contribution to the Rare Groove genre and the New Heavy Funk Movement. This compilation marks Part One of the FunkFood Trilogy, offering a retrospective of works created by the Funkateers behind Soulciety Records and Soulkitchen Records — two brothers in “crime,” riding these rhythms together like poets crafting their verses.
For over 30 years, their journey has been defined by dedication, devotion, passion, and an unwavering commitment to Soul and Funk. Over time, they have taken on many aliases — Gorch Fonk, Lee Armstrong, Herbie Hitchcock, Brother on the Run, Emanuel Armstrong, Eclectic Funk Brother, among others.

Yet beyond the changing names, one thing has always remained constant: their friendship, their determination to stay true to the game — and, above all, true to the music.
