‘The Queen’ was recorded by Big Ella, an oversized lady named Ella Thomas with an even bigger voice. The tune is an outstanding piece of brassy and Hammond driven R’n’B recording smashing it with excellent and powerful boasts of Ms Thomas.

Produced by Missisippi Funk’n’ Blues zampano Bobby Rush this tune was picked up by Northern Soul deejays all over the world and turned into a massive club anthem causing prices of the original 45 on Rush to go high shortly after its discovery a few years ago.

The B–side comes up with the more funkier R’n’B stomper ‘Too Hot To Hold’ by the lady herself with the first release on Salem Records.

What a brilliant piece of music for the open minded Northern Soul/R’n’B/Funk dancers and deejays this is, it will become a classic on the Soul scene and very likely getting played in ‘general clubs’.

The record is released and distributed by Austria’s number one Black Music outlet/distro Record Shack being its second official new release and the shops 10th anniversary single.
