Richard Marks – very much a cult hero on the funk collector scene, here with his great 1976 version of a track we know as by Bill Wright, now sounds a crossover winner and a pretty tough find 45 these days. The flip here is possibly one of the greatest deepsoul couplings ever released; impossible to choose which side to include so Hit&Run decided to go for both. Originally on Note and recorded in Birmingham AL in 1974, this really is top-drawer Southern soul!
