Ronnie McNeir – My Day Will Come b/w The Girl’s Alright With Me – Kent Select UK 7″

Detroit singer Ronnie McNeir started his album career in Los Angeles under the auspices of Motown’s Mickey Stevenson. His eponymous first LP on RCA featured several gems as did a whole LP that Stevenson produced on McNeir around the same time; it has recently been issued on Kent at last. ‘My Day Will Come’ is one of the highlights, and epitomises his emotion-filled songwriting and sensitive delivery – not to mention his playing of most of the instrumentation.

The team chose the Temptations’ ‘The Girl’s Alright With Me’ to cover on the proposed LP, approaching it in a light and breezy manner and making it catchy as hell.
