As difficult it may be to describe the ‘best’ or ‘fave’ Northern Soul dance tune, this description could fit this marvelous TUNE of a tune with it’s steady on the fours drumbeat including a sort of popping tom/bongo drum joined by the rhythm guitar and tambourine which together form the foundation of this driving and so weill arranged Soul dance record. On top of that there’s also that majestic killer tenor sax break half way through and then these so-soulful supertight vocals trying to convince the lady of the hour to ‘Try It’ ’cause the only hope they have is “In Our Hearts”. This quality record produced by Carl Davis just deserves the over-used phrase ‘TOP NORTHERN SOUL CLASSIC’, a timeless masterpiece of a tune backes with a heart-felt super-soulful midtempo mover.
