The Ascots – A Few Feet From The Gutter b/w Gloria Edwards – My Love Is Getting Stronger – Record Shack AT 7″

Rare mind blowing ‘ghetto feel’ Crossover Soul from the early seventies, it’s lack of promotion hampered any hopes the group had of finding the spotlight, typically for ‘Northern Soul’ these kinda records catch the attention of some adventurous deejays up there in the North of England. It developed into a gem filling dancefloors not only at upfront events, meanwhile also at the more ‘classic’ niters. Original copies selling for a lot of money nowadays, so we’d think this reissue should make a few people happy. Some Soul specialist would say that the ‘real poke’ is actually sitting on the flipside, and yes, there’s a real MONSTER: the brilliant unissued female version of the Tommy Ridgley Motown-styled Northern Soul rarity now on a properly licensed & freshly remastered & limited Record Shack first press ‘OVO’ 7″ single.
