The previously unknown Timmy Wilson recorded this a terrific R&B groove in Columbus, Ohio in 1965, this first-ever vinyl release follows the track’s debut on Kent’s ‘Modernists’ CD is assured club plays from eager Mod and R&B DJs, the vocalist on ‘Chained Am I’ was unknown until some astute detective work revealed it to be Ansler Montell, who wrote the song with Johnny Northern and J.R. Bailey recorded for New York label Arock being its first issue, both available here on a strictly limited ‘Select’ edition
